About Hydraulic Cylinder and its Sourcing

Friday, December 26, 2008
Hydraulic Cylinder is known as the mechanical actuator which is being used for giving the linear force through the linear stroke. It is being used for many, especially in engineering vehicles. Such cylinders gain their powers from the pressurized hydraulic fluid, which is basically the oil. Such cylinders consist of the cylinder barrel, through which the piston connects to the piston rod moving back and forth. The barrel gets closed on every end with the cylinder bottom and through the cylinder head in which the piston rod comes out of the cylinder. The piston consists of the sliding rings and have seals. The piston gets divide into the inside of the cylinder in two chambers, the bottom chamber and the piston rod side chamber. The hydraulic pressure acts on the piston to do linear work and motion. Flanges, trunnions, and/or clevisses are mounted to the cylinder body. The piston rod also has mounting attachments to connect the cylinder to the object or machine component that it is pushing.

About Hydraulic Press and its Sourcing

Monday, December 22, 2008
Hydraulic Press is recognized as the hydraulic mechanism which is used for applying large lifting or compressive force. The hydraulic press is the hydraulic equivalent of the mechanical lever which is also referred to as the Bramah press. This name has been given after its inventor Joseph Bramah, from the country England. After the invented he issued the patent on the press in the year 1795. Hydraulic presses are considered as most frequently used modern press.
Working of Hydraulic Press
The working of hydraulic press depends upon the pascal's principle, in which the the pressure from the closed system remains constant. On one end of the system there is the piston having small cross sectional area driven through the lever for increasing the force. On the other hand there is small diameter tubing. Pressure at the confined fluid is then transmitted undiminished and with it acts through the equal force on the equal area and at the 90 degree of the container wall.

About Battery Charger and its Sourcing

Thursday, December 18, 2008
Battery Charger is defined as the device which is used for putting the energy into the secondary cell or the battery by exerting the electric current through it. The charge current is depend upon the technology and capacity of the battery which is charged. For e.g, the current which should be used to recharge the 12 V car battery will be differ from the current for a mobile phone battery. Usually a simple short circuit does not adversely affect the simple battery charger therefore it is considered the better source of the DC voltage for experimentation. However it is required an external capacitor for connecting across its voltage terminals in order to get the 'smooth' voltage sufficiently, which can be of a DC voltage plus a 'ripple' voltage added to it. Battery chargers can be classified into following categories-
  • Simple Chargers
  • Trickle Chargers
  • Timer Based Chargers
  • Intelligent Chargers
  • Fast Chargers
  • Pulse Chargers
  • Inductive Charging
  • USB-Based Charging

About Pinch Valve and its Sourcing

Sunday, December 14, 2008
Pinch Valve has been characterized as the full bore or fully ported control valve type which has no obstruction for passageway of flow. Pinch valves are various types, depending on the nature of their usage. Like fluids pinch valves, which is put to be used for fluids which has a device which is directed for controlling process tubing. With the tube forcing, it will create a seal which is equivalent to the tubing permeability. Particulates major parts of the pinch valve includes of the body and sleeve. The sleeve compasses of the body and sleeve. The sleeve will encompasses of the flow media and then isolate the from the rest of the environment which in turns reduce the contamination to the environment. It is more commonly used for slurries or for various process which has entrained solids. Pinch valves can be considered as the good valve for the flow controlling application, provided the operation temperature is under the polymer limit.

About Camshafts and its Sourcing

Thursday, November 27, 2008
Camshafts have been characterized as the apparatus which is used in the piston engines for operating the poppet valves. It encompasses of the cylindrical rod, which is running the length of the cylinder bank and have a number of oblong lobes or cans which protrude from it, one for every valve. The force generated by the cam opens the valves with its pressing or due to some other intermediate mechanism with their rotation. The first ever known camshafts and cam were discovered in Iraq and in year 1206 Al-Jazari described them. Later on in 14th century or earlier they were appeared in the European mechanism.
Positioning of Camshafts
On the basis of the camshafts location, the cams either operate the valves directly or through the push rods and rockers linkages. Direct operation demands the simple mechanism and results into less chances of failures but camshafts are needed to be positioned on the cylinders top. In some engines 2 camshafts are used for intaking and exhausting of valves.
